Created under the guidance of the master watchmaker Mihai Ceciu (Horologivm) and in association with the entrepreneur Florin Niculescu (Tavannes Watch) and Ion Schiau (Albini Prassa) as co-founders, the revolutionary Romanian Academy of Watchmaking (ARC) in Romania reaches a new level. Together, we founded the first watchmaking school of this kind in the country in the last 30 years, dedicated to educating young students and shaping the future of watchmaking.
On April 22, ARC, the location chosen for this occasion, hosted the first course "Be a watchmaker for a day". This exciting initiative aims to present the school's offerings, while offering watch enthusiasts a unique opportunity to assemble a watch under real conditions. The course included 12 work tables for watchmakers, offering participants an immersive experience in the exciting world of watchmaking.
For the first course, Albini Prassa provided the limited edition "Sageata Orientului" watch, adding an extra level of challenge and excitement for the audience present. The opportunity to work with such a remarkable watch was a testimony to the passion and dedication of the participants, among whom was His Excellency, the Swiss Ambassador Arthur Mattli, who honored the event with his presence as a special guest.
ARC differentiates itself by implementing a comprehensive dual system, which combines both apprenticeship and formal studies. This innovative approach ensures that students receive a well-rounded education, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the watchmaking industry. The "Be a Watchmaker for a Day" courses contribute directly to the school's success, with all revenue generated being used to support its mission.
